In this short, quick read we get a sweet story mixed with plenty of steam. College journalist Jenny wants to save the campus’s art building to gain notice as real journalist and help further her career. Meanwhile, art major Matthew just wants to finish his degree and start his career as an artist. When Jenny approaches Matthew for assistance, sparks fly between these two opposites leading to a fun and sexy romance with plenty of heart.
I am a child of the 80s and love almost everything about the decade so it was fun to read this book because Jenny Holiday’s New Wave Newsroom series is set in and inspired by songs from the ‘80s. The Fixer is inspired by 867-5309 (Jenny), which plays an interesting role in the story leading to some interesting (and important) interactions between our characters.
I loved these two characters so much. Jenny is quirky and determined, but there is more to her than meets the eye. And while Matthew may not have the quirky personality and style of Jenny, he definitely has his own secrets and goals. And when these two get together it is pure magic. They are so great together.
My only complaint is that the story isn’t longer. I would gladly read a full-length novel featuring Jenny and Matthew. I’d love to know where their journey takes them…hopefully, it’s together.
